Castello di OlivetoThe Castello di Oliveto is a castle built in 1424 for the Pucci nobles of Florence. It was designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, the famous architect who created the cupola of the cathedral of Florence. Surrounded by an oak forest and a fertile agricultural estate, the Castello di Oliveto looks like a fortified villa; it was built as a summer residence, to defend the Pucci property, but especially as a Florentine bastion against its Sienese rivals. |
Church of Santa Maria a ChianniAlong the Via Francigena, the Church of Santa Maria a Chianni stands out for its sobriety and elegance, typical of the Pisan Romanesque style. Maybe it’s because of the sandstone, which gives it an ochre light, that the parish church of Santa Maria a Chianni seems like it’s always being kissed by the sun. Maybe it’s because of the pines that hide it like a curtain, the sombre Romanesque rhythm of its façade, the cleanliness of its plain blind arches, or the road that passes below and forces you to gaze up at it. Or maybe it’s for all these reasons combined that the church, a symbol of Gambassi, emerges as a solid monad on the stage of this corner of Tuscany. |
The Quadrifoglio EstateThe Era Valley reaches as far as the eye can see, toward Volterra and beyond. One’s gaze is lost in a majestic, vast landscape that never repeats itself. This is the breathtaking panorama you can admire from the Quadrifoglio, an estate that opens up to a paradise! Every centimeter has been cared for! |
